‘Air in a box’ - that was Nike’s simple ad campaign slogan when they launched the Air Force 1 in 1982, the first basketball shoe that featured a pocket filled with air in the heel. Today, there are nearly 2.000 versions of the Air Force 1, and it is still going strong. The Air Force 1 is now highlighted in “The Force Is Female” initiative, highlighting the strengths and fearlessness of women.
The Air Force 1 triggers a lot of memories of my childhood. Nike was a huge part of my passion for kicks. My love for sneakers started quite cliché'd. I started playing basketball at the age of 14. I needed some basketball shoes, so I saved all my money to buy a pair of Nike Dunk High - this was the pivotal moment where my love for kicks started and continued with my first Air Force 1.
Nine years later it felt so good to be back on the court with my personal Air Force 1 Low from Nike with my own branding on the heel. Nike knows what I like, much love to you guys!
